Project
Living Legends connects oral tradition with digital culture. In our workshops the young participants learn to collect traditional stories from the elders and will then give them new live by creating short animation films out of it.
We use communication technology as a tool for cultural preservation and knowledge sharing, connecting multiple generations within a given community by the interchange of stories.
The loss of oral traditions is heavily linked with globalization, and newly connected economic, technological, social, and cultural processes. The resulting interdependence makes communication easier, but at the same time results in the loss of cultural identity, heritage, and knowledge. We turn this on its head, using the same tools, but with the task of preservation in the modern age.
